I think I'm going to watch it. The show seems different from Ats, but I have a feeling it's going to make me miss Angel even more.

Hi everyone, I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the new TV show Moonlight, about a vampire and his private investigation firm. The show premieres Friday 9/28 @ 9pmEST. Here is a link to a preview if you don't know what I'm talking about:

I'll give it a try but that trailer didn't do anything for me.

I was really disappointed by the show. I found the characters rather irritating. I don't think I'm going to continue watching...
On another note, David Boreanaz in the season premiere of Bones was excellent. |

I find myself actually liking it. I think that the one that play the detective vampire is fine. It reminds me a lot of Angel.

I can't watch it. I tried. For about ten seconds. Did you catch the scene in which Mick St. John (and, I mean, can that be a bigger ripoff of Nick Knight?) is sick and the blonde mortal girl who's his love interest offers him her blood? Man, even the camera angle was the same as Angel biting Buffy in GD2...only Mick was biting blondie's arm, not her neck. It's not even a Buffy ripoff. It's a Nick Knight ripoff. And while the people are very pretty, there's just nothing there, certainly not good writing, and nothing original, to keep me coming back. Just how I see it.

I so agree, Margot. Bad. Bad multiplied geometrically by lame --and YEA! to see you! (Scaredy, but gotta ask) Is hubby okay? And you! Are you surviving so much turmoil? How's your writing going? Fic? Oh

Well, I also gave it a try, and I thought it pretty much sucked. Of course I kind of went into it thinking it would try to be a copycat of Angel, but no matter, one viewing was enough for me.

Hi, Carlos. Thanks for asking. Hubby and I are both doing fairly well, though we're both still under various treatments and we each have one minor surgery to look forward to. Both pro-writing and fanfic writing are going well, but I'm not posting the B/A stuff until it is complete. I've got a couple of novel-length B/A stories in the works. And little time to devote to them. But, they will be completed and posted. I'm not abandoning them.
I have to admit to a certain degree of frustration when I see crap like Moonlight get airtime on TV, while genuinely well-written shows, like "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" get canned. Let's not even talk about the travesty of canceling Angel Then again, I see the same thing in the bookstores. It's like a handful of authors have a lock on the shelves, and most of it is derivative crap. Just like TV. Since BtVS and Ats went off the air, I can count the shows that I follow on one hand...and not one of those shows, even the best of them, comes anywhere near what BtVS/Ats were when they were at their best. Since they went off the air, even when I find a show I enjoy and follow...I don't care about it. If I miss an ep, it's no big. Hell, I can get bored, and turn on my computer while watching a show I generally enjoy. Because there's just nothing that pulls me in a fraction of the way BtVS/Ats did. Sigh. The frustration comes from knowing authors who are brilliantly talented and who have published critically acclaimed fiction, but who are barely eking out a living as writers while the schlock takes up the bookshelves/tv screens and gets all the bucks. /end rant. Other than that, I'm fine. Hope you are doing well. Good to "see" you again. *G* |

My great lady! I am flattered you replied. The MINOR aspect of your report was at once a worry and a relief. You both really went through grinding difficulties. It leaves one whooshing in relief and still shaky anxious to read your words.
Of course, as a fan of your descriptive writing, I am glad you are still at it and are able to keep up your friendships that support your efforts. That you are still inspired by B/A/us is gratifying. You liked Studio 60? Yipppeeee! All two of us thought it was brilliant. Ha! I really have to admit I liked also seeing the show after all the craziness extending to really being connected to the wider world *personally * which was inspiring. The utterly natural yet creative vantage and rich language was so believable in these characters. To have a brain that can make linear sense of so many rich sources of experience, from pop to great literature was such a wide awake ride! Well, people who arent billionaires by babyhoods breach into teenhood, with a clothes line and 14 (ghost written) books, besides TV and moviesalso written by othersseem to require persons to have a brain and maybe having experienced more than baby pablum that dies with the light of the TV tube, an inane smile stuck on the breathing Potato Head, and the capability to enjoy the wealth of connection that endures through time with those gifts called self-awareness, awareness of other in meaning and experience. You know, things like Love. The word so bandied about it holds no meaning or sense, only dollars. The world often can be seen as a woman drying out or a vampire starving to death. Glad you are around and know what a soul is and how to nourish it! I read that 80 percent of the publishing world is in romance novels. That usually means women and THAT figure frightened me that so many women are not finding REAL pleasure. I actually read Midnight Blue, some of Anne Rice and the series by Diane Gabaldon that the whilom Ducks liked. There is no noun that doesnt deserve two adjectives (instead of the right word), but they actually did some research to give bones to the spirit of the tale, particularly Dianes tales. I guess people are so worn down in doing all the things expected of them, their relief is scarce a dip in a fingerbowl; and then people are surprised they feel depressed and overwhelmed and actually dissatisfied, with no idea how to fix it other to get more of the same kind of fix (for the find is hard tofind). Real beauty, like good food, doesnt wash down the drain. (And real beauty deserves the attention to see it, as it did to produce it! Ha!) I do wish you and yours well in health and in love and in joy, as I remain always Your humble servant, Carlos |

MOONLIGHT is a pure rip-off of everything BTVS and ANGEL.
Every show has been done before by JW only his episodes were soooo superior! Vampire been tracking and saving petite blonde girl for years. Meets her again and its love for them both. He spends his time saving her - she spends her time saving him and on and on.................... Hated the 2 episode I tried to watch, but........................................... my breaking BTVS/ANGEL heart is so starved I watched it last week......yes its a blatant rip-off but that guy Mick St.John has something that is very ................moving and watchable. No-one else stands out but he does. He could NEVER be a ANGEL but who could? Sadly DB made it his own although he now refuses to talk about the BTVS/ANGEL years, in any interview he gives. For this alone, DB has slipped off my radar! I can understand he doesn't want to talk alot about these shows, they have gone and he has 'moved on' but I feel so let down he has no love for 'those days, those shows' These shows made him, and I think its a long way from the online chats after every show when the show was just starting and needed us fans too watch every week. Most actors actresses remember the shows that 'made them' with fondness especially when they were such good shows - nothing to be ashamed of, so whats his gripe? SMG is happy to talk about the shows. Now, if it was the films he has made that he didn't want to remember or talk about - now THAT I understand!!!!!!!!!!!!! helen x
They ask us [B/Aers] how long we plan on believing. They ask us how long we plan on keeping the faith that Buffy and Angel will reunite. Our answer is a simple
one: Forever. It's the whole point."
