Joss Whedon has announced that he is producing a new series starring Eliza and they have asked Tim to be involved.
They have a seven ep committment from FOX and if the writer's strike does not happen he will begin writing immediately. SQUEEEE!!!!! Tara

This is just the greatest news I've heard in a long time. To be able to look forward to a show in the same calibur as BTVS, Angel, and Firefly is so exciting. Nobody does characters the way Joss does, and though I was never very fond of the Faith character on Buffy, I have a feeling Joss will make me love this new character that Eliza will play.

Id like to throw in my adoration of myth in the tragic love story of Echo. (I am just assuming you know it inherent in the description) summarycentral.tripod.com...shouse.htm This is Ibsens, including symbols Remembering as identity, time and place, communication and connection, and all that talk of souls again. WHEE! I do wonder if Joss will include something he actually gave Buffy that makes her inspiring to me: that unexplained gift (other than some genetic memoryhard wired survivalconnecting slayers through time) called Imagination (information assembled in a new way unique to an individual) that is, perhaps, an activation of potential (?) that actually saves the day. It is the one part of personality that existentialists struggle with and rather inadequate. DollHouse is gonna be "complicated" like the Ibsen play; go to Wikipedia for a quick synopsis (above). That Nora ends up a suicide, BTW, in her inability to really be a free woman not being "played with" in getting physical needs and emotional needs met on her own terms. I think Joss will use the premise, but flip it in terms of empowerment. Also Tim's show Miracle Man is 20th C Fox about a "fakir" evangelist who ends up actually being able to produce/channel miracles; the story about a man who keeps on trying to be a better man. Gonna LOVE this as this is the Angel I wanted to watch and the best episodes on ATS were Tim's, not just my opinion. Tim's strength in common with Joss is death, but his focus is often in Irony, not just devising pain. I adore this writer. Obviously, this means TM's work on DH will show as "fixes" just as I see on K-ville, (TM is consulting producer),a show that had much wider story implications than the mealy mouthed buddy cop stories most would expect. When he isn't on board, oh lawdy...does it show. Oh yeah, and Eliza? She will not be Faith; she will be practical, but the emotional undercurrents of these episodes should be gripping as we learn about her, not the plot lines she is involved in, I would guess. I agree, character will be critical and Joss does that so well. I just hope he does't "wander" off, his ego thinking he actually juggles well. He indulges his creativity well. Different things. I have some hope for this series, until Joss gets bored of it (as he did BtVS) and the quality plummets. Will be good to see Eliza regularly again.

ve heard more about these dolls in the dollhouse, complete with handlers; They have missions and mind wipes until one starts to remember what she isn't supposed to and that she wants her identity and not to be a tool, but have choice. Anyone seeing "Bourne Identity" meets La Femme Nikita?" Anybody seeing true love is so not going to be allowed to live? Why is that a lie to JOss? or simply too difficult to support because living now means forever is beyond imagination of people who live by their wits? I don't get this! Why is this the specific casualty to his worlds of realilty? I think I am tired of this instead of a "shoulder to shoulder" arrangement just once in the universe that really works and lasts and shows complexity in juggling fear and fearlessness that means they have to be smarter than the monster who dreams up this typical pedestrian "superhero" stereotype. Or is it rotating bed partners that sells soap? I mean doesn't the female, by virtue of her more complex, inner life and multi functioning brain have the innate capacity to pull this off believably?
I have to say I am glad Ducks is writing a print book rathr than E-seron. Those end up rushed at the end despite their imaginative contents. I enjoy her wicca world books so much. I also liked greater character action in love scenes in emotionally more interesting places than the usual pron for hers, when given space, come out of the plot and drama, the love scenes more intense for their denial of the best situations. Of course she does great humor iwith intense feeling and danger, that will just wipe one out with high notes. I also enjoy spiritual ritual given such loving care even when pure fantasy. chuckit25 (again) |
